Divorce Law
Divorce Attorney Based in Utah
A Utah divorce isn’t one filing; it’s a sequence: a petition, financial disclosures on a deadline, at least one mediation session in most contested cases, and a decree at the end. Knowing that sequence up front is what actually makes the process less overwhelming. I’ll walk you through each step as it comes up, from the first filing to the final signature.
At Gibb Law, we excel in all aspects of divorce law. Whether your case involves contested or uncontested divorce, asset division, child custody, alimony, or any other related matter, we are here to provide personalized and strategic legal solutions tailored to your specific needs.
Achieving an equitable split of assets and debts between divorcing spouses, encompassing real estate, automobiles, savings accounts, 401(k) plans, pension benefits, and business interests.

Determining fair child and spousal support payments post-divorce.
Endings, Beginnings, Beyond
At Gibb Law, we understand the unique struggles divorcing spouses face. The complexities of property division, especially concerning marital property, often become emotional battlegrounds. Our practice areas encompass a spectrum of divorce-related issues, from uncontested divorces to contested matters involving child custody evaluations.
We recognize the profound impact that property rights and division can have on those involved. Addressing child custody concerns adds a layer of emotional complexity, making court filings and contested issues particularly daunting. We empathize with the difficulties inherent in divorce, and we provide support and expertise in these practice areas, ensuring our clients receive the guidance they need during this challenging time.

Utah's Divorce Laws
Utah’s divorce statutes were renumbered from Title 30 into Title 81 in September 2024 — if you’ve read an older guide citing “Title 30,” the substance carried over, just under a new number. A few practical markers worth knowing early: both spouses must exchange financial declarations early in the case, most contested divorces require at least one mediation session before trial, and an uncontested case can often resolve in a few months while a contested one more commonly takes six months to a year in Davis County. Utah Code Title 81, Chapter 4.
Why Choose Gibb Law for Your Divorce
I’ve handled divorce cases in Davis County courts for fifteen years. I know which judges want a clean financial declaration up front, and which mediation approaches actually resolve a case instead of dragging it out. You work directly with me, not a rotating team of associates. Tell me what happened, and we’ll figure out the right next step together.
